The world earth day is the day when we acknowledge our planet and try to make endeavors to protect and preserve our planet in different ways. Did you know that? Textile production is estimated to be responsible for about 20% of global clean water pollution , the fashion industry is also responsible for 10% of global carbon emissions. With people becoming more aware of how they want to look, the popularity of fast fashion has risen, what is fast fashion then? In simple words fashion which comes and goes out of trend quickly is fast fashion. With the global climatic conditions changing so drastically, many people and brands are now taking initiatives to change this trend, by adopting slow fashion and recycling techniques, many influencers are also now advocating sustainable and slow fashion. Slow fashion means, making conscious decisions while buying your clothes, rather than investing in fashion trends, going for more clothes which would last and can stay in your wardrobe for long. So, This earth day how can we make a difference in our own attitude towards fashion? We can do simple things to reduce the burden, one of which is building a sustainable wardrobe, here are few clothing items that you can invest in : Invest in denim skirts/shorts/jeans Denim will never go out of fashion, and you can pair it with so many clothing items.you can pair your denim jeans with kurta/tank top/shirt. Style your denim skirt/ shorts with a shirt or camisole and layer it with a summer blazer. Shirt dresses This is another classic fashion that remains timeless, go for cotton shirt dresses with different patterns, nowadays there are many local sustainbale brands which are offering such cute eco-friendly dresses. Handloom sarees Sarees are super versatile and nowadays you will see people matching it up with different pieces of clothing to showcase their styles, but nothing beats a good old saree with a customized blouse. There are so many weaves to try! Banarsi, Block prints, Bandhni, Kanjivaram and many more! Blazers: You can pair them with shirts, t shirts, turtlenecks and dresses too! A black blazer would definitely go with multiple outfits. A line Black dress You can try a short or a long a line black dress, there are so many ways to style them and defiantly, they are never going to go out of fashion! You can wear a sleeveless dress with a top inside for a causal and modest look, a short dress would look great for any party. This earth day let us try to re-investigate our own shopping habits, instead of impulsively adding it to the cart, lets question ourselves do I need this? What is the composition of the product? What is the brand doing in terms is sustainability? Can I try an alternative? Let us educate ourselves more, and instead start building our own sustainable wardrobe.
